Let's explore the benefits of singing bowl and sound therapy.

Tibetan Singing Bowls produce the sound of OM. Sound vibration affects human body and mind. Om is the symbol of the universal sound. During Tibetan traditional meditation, one clears their mind of distractions and listens to the sound produced by their internal body; that sound resonates with the sound produced by the singing bowl. So, Singing Bowls are commonly used in meditations and yoga because sound helps people clear their mind and achieve perfect stillness. The soothing sound produced by Tibetan Singing Bowls creates compassionate and holistic resonance with every note producing harmonic overtones that help the healing process.

According to tradition, the bowls are made of seven metals-one metal for each of the celestial bodies:

Gold - Sun

Silver- Moon

Mercury- Mercury

Copper- Venus

Iron- Mars

Tin- Jupiter

Lead- Saturn

Each metal produces an individual sound. The combination of these metals produce the exceptional singing harmonics of the bowl.

How to Play:

Hold the singing bowl on the palm of your left hand. For smaller bowls, you can hold on your fingertips. Hold the mallet about mid-length, with all the fingertips pointing down. With an even pressure, rub the mallet clockwise around the outside edge of the rim of the bowl. As you move your full arm around the bowl twist your wrist a bit. Keep going until the sound reaches its optimum level and you will feel vibration on your hand.

Maintenance:

Wipe the bowl with dry, clean cloth when needed. No additional cleaning necessary. Avoid dropping the bowl and keep the bowl in a dry environment.

A New Paradigm for Holistic Medicine

“Sound healing practices have helped me to develop my own intuitive sense, and the resulting insights I've had into emotion and feelings have greatly benefited my patients. I never rely on intuitions to make decisions about medical treatment, nor do I consider myself a psychic or "medical intuitive." But I can recall more than few instances when I've become aware of an emotional or spiritual concern that might hinder my patient's wellbeing, and I've been able to use that awareness to help that person overcome previously unacknowledged blockages to healing. “
